In praise of plateaus
November 9, 2007
In the summer on hot days air rises. As it rises it expands and cools off. Up here on the plateau (around 7500 feet above sea level) it stays mild and nice. Pretty much no one here even owns an air conditioner.
I thought that winter’s would be cold but the frost came here as late as it did in Albuquerque. I guess it makes sense: the heavy, cold air flows right past us and settles in the canyons between the plateaus and the valleys they lead to. The air in the mornings is still pretty nice. Serendipity!

Sounds like a near perfect climate, in addition to the nice people and beautiful scenery. We may never get you back to Provo.

We’ll see, Mom. I’d love to come back. I’m not sure what I’d do for work there though.
