Rhubarb crisp

July 27, 2008

  • Lily, after expressing delight that I put on her pants, said “Sh . . . shoes.”
  • Elsie caught many bubbles today in nursery,
  • Timmy surprised us by setting the table for breakfast this morning before we came downstairs,
  • Abby made an elaborate city that she dubbed “Chicago” in the upstairs hallway,
  • Kate spent a large portion of her waking hours reading on the couch,
  • Gina managed to pack our fridge and freezers tighter than they have ever been packed, and
  • I finished “Shakespeare’s Spy.”
  • Lily kept trying to climb onto and balance upon precipices,
  • Elsie broke open a glow stick and became a glowing girl,
  • Timmy finally got a hair cut,
  • Abby reached her summer reading goal,
  • Kate sat on a rock with a notebook and made a list of all the neat and beautiful things about our camping trip,
  • Gina found out that she can’t sleep in a tent when the music from other campers is too loud, and
  • I found out that I can sleep through music but not when I’m too excited about a new physics idea.
  • Lily said several two word combinations such as “My bite, I’m poopy, I am, thank you, welcome, peekaboo, hug ee,”
  • Elsie had lime juice squeezed over several of her meals,
  • Timmy managed to keep his mother from cutting his hair for the 4th week in a row,
  • Abby’s been cruising through the “American Girl” books,
  • Kate has been reading the “Animals do the strangest things books,”
  • Gina took the kids all over town on the bus several days this week, and
  • I finally fixed my bike and the hammock.

Happy 4th

July 6, 2008

  • Lily says “up,” “yes,” “no,” “Daddy,” “bite,” and other things we don’t understand,
  • Elsie turned our bananas into pudding which she and Lily happily ate,
  • Timmy said “fat people are short, unless they are old.”  “How do you know?”  “Mommy and Daddy are fat but they are tall because they are old.”
  • Abby wanted to be the queen of all magic but couldn’t get Kate to agree to it,
  • Kate fasted for almost 24 hours,
  • Gina made a killer pork roast, and
  • I made some lemon-lime sherbet.
