- Lily used her toothbrush to brush her feet each chance she got, even removing her shoes and socks to do so,
- Elsie insisted on wearing her bright yellow rain boots to preschool every day there was not PE,
- Timmy had to move his roses downstairs because his window got too cold during the day,
- Abby started getting people to go on walks around the neighborhood,
- Kate learned how to hit a ping pong ball more than ten times in a row,
- Gina started caring for starts for several types of herbs given her by a friend, and
- I read an email from my dissertation adviser suggesting that this academic year is the time to graduate.
- Lily said, “Daddy, this is a book,”
- Elsie got many different people to read books to her,
- Timmy read through 7 different books,
- Abby finished “Felicity’s Surprise,” “Felicity’s Lesson,” and “Happy Birthday for Felicity and several others” and convinced her school library to buy a new set of American Girl books,
- Kate read several books to her younger siblings and read to me from “Zombies Don’t Play Soccer,”
- Gina has been giving me a blow-by-blow account of the book “Three Cups of Tea,” and
- I committed to write a book over the next 6 months (I hope to call it a ‘dissertation’).
- Lily insisted on walking along the rail-road tie borders on the way to the bus stop each morning,
- Elsie learned fire safety from a real fireman,
- Timmy bought a miniature potted rose bush and picked a yellow blossom to give to his teacher,
- Abby was the high scorer for her soccer team,
- Kate was overheard with her friends dealing with the drama caused by an evil looking man who had killed all their fathers,
- Gina managed to watch several episodes of Scarecrow and Mrs. King, and
- I told Gina that she used to attract men like flies to vinegar. (She didn’t take it like I meant it. I used to work next to a fruit fly genetics lab and they would catch fruit flies using apple cider vinegar. But Gina thinks that flies to honey fits her better. Now that she points it out, I agree.)
- Lily started dancing on the chapel bench, saying “Daddy, daddy, daddy”,
- Elsie scored a goal on Abby in our living room.
- Timmy scored some goals on me.
- Abby went to comfort Timmy when he got hurt, looked so threatening that he hit her, (she was crushed)
- Kate made up a hairdo involving ponytails in the front rather than the back,
- Gina made about 12 quarts of great salsa with some of our tomato harvest, and
- I made a Thai egg and pork soup.
