• Lily dipped both hands in the barbecue drain pot, leaving them covered in black, tar-like grease that marked everything and person she touched and took a good deal of soap to wash off,
  • Elsie ate a large bowl strawberry shredded wheat without the help of milk,
  • Timmy asked if he could learn to play piano even though he's still learning to read and worked on learning the names of the 7 notes and the names of his fingers,
  • Abby finished "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" and started reading "The Horse and His Boy,"
  • Kate had a 4-hour achievement day party,
  • Gina, managed to recreate an amazing soup that we had at Souper Salad (adobe chicken), and
  • I received the first two submissions to There and Then Magazine.

Fun in the rain

June 21, 2009

  • Lily has begun removing her pants and diaper and leaving little puddles,
  • Elsie got covered with mud today while making many "chocolate" goodies outside,
  • Timmy was the first to change into his swimming suit and go play in the huge puddles left by the rain,
  • Abby played us a long piano song that she wrote,
  • Kate made mini-tacos out of tortilla chips for lunch for Father's day,
  • Gina started the fourth Fable Haven book, and
  • I wrote the last two chapters of the first draft of my first novel.

  • Lily has indulged her toothpaste obsession several times this week, most recently covering her hands and face in the sticky minty stuff,
  • Elsie said "lets go tell on ourselves," and
  • Timmy said "no, lets just go tell them."  Then they came to us and Timmy said "Lily got hurt,"
  • Abby memorized a new piano song,
  • Kate had a blast at a three hour Activity Day party and still talks about it from time to time,
  • Gina had a great time with Katie Giras in Albuqueque, and
  • I frightened Gina by looking to see how much it would be to buy all the seasons of "Star Trek, the Next Generation."  (To her relief it is way too expensive–note: this is not a gift hint!  There are a lot of things I would way rather have for $290!)

  • Lily has been taking medicine for her ear infection and keeps worrying that Gina will put the medicine in her ears,
  • Elsie wants to have 5, 6, or a trillion kids,
  • Timmy had a great birthday and went upstairs to bed singing to himself "I'm six!  I'm six!"
  • While we were all making small model houses Abby went and made a huge gorgeous model home,
  • Kate got a blazing fire going by gathering a huge amount of dry pine needles and branches,
  • Gina made great Dutch oven rolls and a nice set of tin foil dinners, and
  • I was relieved to find out that both Gina and Abby love the hair cuts I gave them.
