2009 November « An accountable tortoise

‘Twas the week before Thanksgiving, and

Lily refused to go to nursery and went to sunbeams instead,
Elsie slept on Katie's top bunk when Katie went to sleep downstairs with her cousins,
Timmy reported sadly that the game "chase" has been banned from recess,
Abby counted the days this week and was sad to note that she would only see her best friend Brooklyn on 3 days rather than on the usual 6 days,
Kate got invited several friends to design games for a winter magazine,
Gina had to work to get any word from an elusive loan officer, and
I broke down and started reading something unrelated to my dissertation.

Lily has been changing her own diapers and coming to me when it doesn't work out quite right,
Elsie was singing "I'm evil, sometimes, I'm good sometimes, mostly I'm in between. I'm not all good, I'm not all bad, maybe I'll take over the world" to herself as she went to sleep tonight.
The only thing Timmy came up with for his Christmas wish list was a wheel for his broken air plane. He said to Gina, "You guys give the best presents.
Abby's been requesting the chance to make meals for us and we've been letting her,
Kate showed me a comic that she wrote in preparation for an edition of a magazine,
Gina began to get pretty excited to have her baby after her sister Jessica had a beautiful little girl, and
I swept all the pine needles off our roof and out of our gutters.

Lily has been talking about how she needs a ring and then she can be married and be pregnant and have a baby,
Elsie has thrown multiple tantrums around the concern that she never gets what she wants,"
Timmy has been picking on older kids at school and then complaining when they retaliate,
Abby made a great fruit salad for our party tonight and also set the table,
Kate has been planning Halloween crafts, field trips, and activities for the rest of the kids to participate in,
Gina is relieved to have the Primary program drawing to a close, and
I accepted an invitation to sing in a quartet for Christmas.

Lily's trick-or-treat bag got so heavy that she stopped carrying it,
Elsie said "I want lots of money. Do you?" Then she suggested that I start working weekends.
Timmy almost started crying when he found out that Gina couldn't come to his Halloween party,
Abby spent the week sick with the flu,
Kate cried because she couldn't call her friend to go trunk-or-treating together,
Gina ordered bunk beds for the girls and went to pick them up as soon as they came in, and
I ran in the snow on two separate mornings.
